RE/MAX Sunset Realty to the Rescue of a Sick Child
Sunriver , Ore. – RE/MAX Sunset Realty has continued its annual commitment of sponsoring a sick child through Sparrow Clubs USA (www.sparrowclubs.org) with the help of their team of real estate brokers, and the students of LaPine Middle School. The chosen “Sparrow” for 2006 is Matthew Stone, a 10-year old who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphomic Leukemia this past August.
Each year, RE/MAX Sunset Realty contributes a club sponsorship fee of $4,060, which is allocated to a specific “Sparrow”. The sponsorship underwrites the adoption costs of one particular child in medical need—the Sparrow—to a group of heroic kids—the Sparrow Club—who make it their cause to do a minimum of 256 hours of community service and raise support for their child. As a result of the hard work from the group of students at LaPine Middle School and the donation from RE/MAX Sunset Realty, Matthew and his family will receive funds to assist with the day-to-day living expenses and frequent trips to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon, for his chemotherapy treatments.
“I personally believe wholeheartedly in the mission and accomplishments of Sparrow Clubs USA –from my perspective, Sparrow Clubs USA is about Children helping Children. In past years, we as a company have sponsored Sparrow Clubs, but this year we decided to allow our agents to participate along with us and we’re extremely proud of the way they stepped up with their personal cash donation“ said Ron Tolley, Principal Broker/Manager of RE/MAX Sunset Realty. “All of us at RE/MAX Sunset Realty are thankful for the good that the Sparrow Club accomplishes and are thankful that we are able to be a part of such a wonderful organization.”
RE/MAX Sunset Realty would like to extend a special thank you to Lara and Jack Cooper of Aspen Construction who donated $1,000 towards the sponsorship of Matthew Stone. Lara Cooper is one of RE/MAX Sunset Realty’s real estate brokers who also shares ownership of a custom home building and remodeling company in Sunriver, Oregon, with her husband, Jack.
In addition to being a Sparrow Club sponsor, the independently owned and operated RE/MAX Sunset Realty is also involved in co-hosting an annual fundraiser gala and golf classic (www.wingdinggala.com), in conjunction with the Central Oregon area RE/MAX Offices. The Wing Ding Gala and Golf Classic brings together hundreds of supporters, golfers, and business leaders throughout the community and the Pacific Northwest with all proceeds benefiting the Sparrow Clubs.
