Resort Amenities at Sunriver

The Oregon resort area of Sunriver is a unique place where families and friends can gather for a vacation to remember.

Sunriver offers a variety of activities for everyone in the group from laid back to down right extreme. Imagine having the choice of relaxing by the pool under the warm Central Oregon sun, floating down the Deschutes River by raft, canoe or inner tube, hiking to Benham and Dillon Falls, mountain biking on endless wilderness trails, playing a round of golf on a championship course, or you can always go for a soak under the stars in your private hot tub with a glass of wine and good company at your Sunset Realty vacation home.

There’s so much to do in Sunriver and Central Oregon that we can’t even begin to list it all…here are a few suggestions. For more suggestions, visit our Winter Fun and Fair Weather Fun for an itinerary of daily activities!

If you would like more information on reserving the covered barbeque area for an upcoming family reunion or corporate retreat, please see our Large Group Events page for more information.

Swim in Sunriver
Sunriver has two swimming pool complexes located on the north and south ends of Sunriver. The South Pool is the largest and often is the preferred pool for families with children. The 50 foot water slide makes this pool irresistible for the kids, or the kid at heart. The North Pool is located on the Woodlands Golf Course and is a bit smaller and less crowded during peak vacation times.

There is no fee to get into the Sunriver pools if you are staying with Sunset Realty since we provide you with a Sunset Perks pass which gets you unlimited access to all pools, tennis courts, and exclusive discounts on dining, shopping and recreation around the Sunriver resort area.

If you are looking for a pool with even less crowds and more privacy, we recommend you rent a condo during your stay in Sunriver. A few of the condominium complexes have their own pools available for guests who are staying at the condos only. These include: The Powder Village Condos (located right outside the resort area in the Sunriver Business Park), The Quelah Condos (they have their own tennis courts, too), The Ranch Cabin Condos, and The Circle 4 Ranch Cabins (many have their own private hot tubs, too). Sunset Realty has condo rentals available in all of these complexes.

The Sunriver pools are only open during the warmer months, typically from Memorial Day through the end of September. If you are looking for an indoor pool, visit Mavericks at Sunriver!

Sunriver's Marina and Park

Fort Rock Park and the Sunriver Marina, located along the big Deschutes River add to the appeal of Sunriver.

The Deschutes River is an ideal float trip river. The river can get very fast and make for an exhilarating rafting ride in some areas--see Sun Country Tours for this adventure--but for the most part, your float trip will be unhurried and provide you with a way to stay cool in the hot summer sun and give you a bird’s eye view of the extensive wildlife Sunriver is blessed with.

The marina has canoe and raft rentals available during the warmer months. Additional companies in the Sunriver community offer inner tube, canoe and raft rentals, and some even offer a drop-off and pick-up service along the river. Please see Fair Weather Fun for more information.

If you like to enjoy the sights and wildlife without having to get wet, you can dine waterside on scrumptious seafood, seasoned steaks, or a hearty homemade breakfast at The Trout House restaurant. With delicious food, homemade desserts and shore side dining with an outdoor patio, The Trout House is a tradition for many families and groups when they come to Sunriver.

Fort Rock Park is located in the central part of the resort area. A full playground, tennis courts, picnic areas, ball fields and a large covered area for large gatherings and barbeques, the Fort Rock Park area is a desirable location of Sunriver for families. Sunset Realty has numerous homes within walking distance of the park.

Horseback Riding in Sunriver

With thousands of hiking trails to surprise spots with waterfalls, sparkling mountain lakes, wildflower fields, and magnificent views, hiking is one of the ways to really get out, up close and personal with nature and our gorgeous Central Oregon surroundings.

The Cascade Lakes highway loop which starts right outside of Sunriver and ends in Bend, literally has hundreds of lakes and even more hiking trails. There are leisurely hikes to private picnic areas or you can go for a serious multi-day backpacking trip.

The Newberry Volcanic Monument located only ten miles south of Sunriver has access to hundreds of hikes, camping spots, creeks and rivers, and is home to acres and acres of glass…black Obsidian rock fields. This is where the Paulina Plunge takes place which combines a downhill mountain bike ride, hiking, and a plunge into waterfalls and natural rock water slides.

The Deschutes River trail, which you can access from the north end of Sunriver, takes you along the Deschutes River to Benham, Dillon, and Lava Island Falls. Benham Falls is roughly about 3 ½ miles from Sunriver.

If you would like more information on day hikes or backpacking excursions, please ask for a list at our front desk, or refer to your in-home guest handbook. Also, we have a book for sale at our front desk called “Bend, Overall” by Scott Cook. It is chock full of adventures and hikes off the beaten path. We were even surprised to read of some we didn’t know existed!
